UNCG is aware of the disturbing photos that were distributed on social media. Upon investigation, we’ve learned that a student staged this photo and posted it on social media to encourage their friends to vote and not to create a threatening or hostile environment. We understand that these photos caused emotional harm. Student Affairs staff are working with the parties involved. Please know that there are no direct or immediate safety concerns for our campus community. We’ve encouraged those who need extra support today to contact UNCG Counseling & Psychological Services.
Dear Spartans,
We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment that creates the opportunity for our students to thrive, belong, learn, create, transform, and succeed. We want all of you to feel seen, supported, and affirmed. The diverse backgrounds and experience that we each bring with us makes our campus community unique, and we are proud that our students, faculty, and staff are known for their acceptance and compassion, exhibited by our culture of care.
We know that students who feel like they belong have better outcomes from their college experience. Your college journey goes beyond the classroom, and the environment in which you live, learn, and play is important to us. Our goal is to enrich your student experience with opportunities that celebrate diversity, service, and life-longing learning. I welcome your feedback on how you feel supported and thoughts on how we can continue to improve your sense of belonging.
Take the time to get involved and enjoy your experience at UNCG. Your Spartan Experience is built on getting connected, fostering professional skills, developing as a leader, participating in inclusive dialogue, and focusing on your well-being. Engaging in your Spartan Experience will enhance your academic learning and help you as you start your professional and personal journey after college.
