Spartan Family of the Year for 2026

Congratulations to the Scott family, who was nominated by their daughter, Halle Scott, a current senior at UNCG. In her nomination, Halle shared that her parents have been her biggest supporters throughout her college journey, providing unwavering encouragement, love, and guidance every step of the way.

Whether celebrating accomplishments or helping her navigate challenges, the Scott family has remained a constant source of support. Halle reflected that their encouragement through late-night phone calls, regular check-ins, and simply being there to listen reminded her that she never had to face college on her own.

Halle also credits her family with inspiring her to fully embrace the Spartan experience. Their encouragement to get involved on campus, pursue leadership opportunities, and step outside her comfort zone has helped her grow into a more confident and independent student. She shared, “My experience at UNCG would not be the same without my family beside me every step of the way. They have supported me through every challenge, celebrated every success, and encouraged me to become the best version of myself.”

The Scott family’s steadfast support, belief in Halle’s potential, and enthusiasm for her Spartan journey exemplify the spirit of the Spartan Family of the Year award.

Spartan Family of the Year AWARD

The Spartan Family of the Year award is given in recognition and celebration of the important role families play in the development of students and the overall Spartan Family Community. UNCG recognizes the vital role family members play and wants to honor this commitment to their student’s education and success.

ELIGIBILITY

ALL families, parents, or supporters of current students are eligible for nomination regardless of alumni status or state of residence. Only current students can nominate their family.

Submission Guidelines

Complete online form (must be completed by current UNCG student)

Submissions for 2026 award are closed. Submissions for 2027 will open in the spring.

Award criteria

Submissions will be evaluated based on application completion and demonstration of family support, enthusiasm, a commitment to their student’s education, and recognition of their family’s unique contributions.

Award Selection

The winner will be notified in early August and award will be presented at Spartan Family Weekend in October.

Recognition of Winning Family

The Spartan Family of the Year will be recognized on social media, in the Spartan Family Newsletter, and featured on the Spartan Family website. In addition, the family will receive an engraved award (presented during Spartan Family Weekend), complimentary tickets to Spartan Family Weekend events for up to five family members, Spartan swag, and a UNCG Bookstore gift card.
