Student Affairs Spring 2021 Information

Our community standards established in Fall 2020 will remain in effect in Spring 2021 to ensure the safety of our extended community – especially those most at risk.

Spring 2021 classes begin Tuesday, January 19. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday is Monday, January 18 – classes are dismissed, and offices are closed. In order to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission caused by widespread travel, there is no Spring Break for the Spring 2021 semester. Instead, a Health and Wellness Day is scheduled for Wednesday, March 3, on which classes are dismissed. Friday, April 2, is our Spring Holiday – classes are dismissed, and offices are closed. Final exams will be held Friday, April 30, Saturday, May 1, and Monday, May 3 through Thursday, May 6. Commencement is scheduled for Friday, May 7. The entire academic calendar can be found here.

Return to Campus Handbook

This comprehensive guide – updated for the Spring 2021 semester – covers public health guidelines, academic planning, key dates, campus experience, and other important aspects.

COVID-19 Updates

This site serves as a one-stop shop for information and resources related to the University’s ongoing response to the pandemic. The website will continue to be updated with the latest news, resources, and our COVID-19 case dashboard.

Residential Students

All students living on campus for the Spring 2021 semester must provide results from a RT-PCR COVID-19 test prior to moving into their residence hall. (See Housing and Residence Life’s COVID-19 website for exceptions). Testing should be conducted no earlier than 7 days prior to the date you plan to come back to campus. Beginning January 7, 2021, you will be able to log into ARTEMIS and upload your test results. Testing will be offered on campus, or students can choose to get tested in their communities. Full information about these Housing & Residence Life procedures, including campus testing dates, is available here.

Testing and Contact Tracing

Information about University-provided testing and contact tracing can be found here.

Community Standards

It will take all of us together to keep our community safe and healthy. The primary way COVID-19 spreads is through person-to-person contact, so our best hope of preventing its spread is by changing the way we behave. Our Shield our Spartans campaign reinforces our community standards of Wear, Wait, Wash.

Wear a cloth face covering over your nose and mouth. Face coverings are mandatory at UNCG for all students, faculty, and staff. Everyone must wear a face covering that covers their nose and mouth while indoors – including in classrooms, libraries, auditoriums, and meeting spaces. Face coverings are also required outdoors in situations where appropriate social distancing cannot be maintained.

Wait six feet apart to avoid close contact and maintain appropriate social distancing.

Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.

The University has also provided a COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form. If you experience COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, (or a health care provider tells you that you are presumed positive), or if someone in your immediate household has COVID-19 symptoms or has tested positive, you should notify your professors and fill out the Self-Reporting form.
