Give to Student Affairs

A Beautiful Day at the G

A student’s successful university experience is enhanced by many support services not covered by tuition. Therefore, UNCG must rely on private gifts to enrich the student experience.

Spartan Food Insecurity Fund

Students volunteering at the Spartan Open Pantry

During the 2019-2020 academic year, the Spartan Open Pantry distributed over 21,000 pounds of food. This fund is critical in supporting food insecurity initiatives on our campus. This includes the Spartan 2 Go distribution centers around campus that are conveniently located in spaces where students can quickly grab food and supplies.

Nearly 34% of students experience food insecurity. The usage of the Pantry by First-Generation students, underrepresented groups, and LGBTQIA students have much higher usage rates than our campus demographics reflect.

In Spring 2020 alone, the Pantry gave out 11,119 lbs. of food, which is more than is normally distributed in a full academic year. The Pantry also gave an additional $4,875 in grocery gift cards. Now more than ever, it’s important to support our Spartans in need.
